We care about you, and we want you to be aware of our current crisis.

Many of you know that the past couple of years have been particularly challenging for us.  Just before the pandemic hit, Alicia lost her job with a non-profit she loved and had worked with for 25 years. She got a job at Ralph’s, then landed a position with another non-profit in South Pasadena (which she also loves). Robert’s continued to work as a freelance web developer and in remote tech support, but our combined incomes still haven’t been enough to make ends meet.  We recently began working for Instacart, which helps when we’re particularly strapped between paychecks, but, even with Covid-19 rent relief, we have struggled to raise rent, put gas in the car, get to work and pay for groceries and utilities.

The day the moratorium ended, our landlord gave us notice that they want us to leave by the end of October.  We loved living here, and will find it difficult to move again, but are determined to move forward and thrive.  We don’t see how we could do otherwise, after our wonderful wedding in July, and considering all the love and good wishes that have surrounded us.

Alicia has been looking for a better paying job, and even with Robert also searching for more work, we‘ve been surprised with a few sudden, large expenses. As a result, our Minister advised us to set up this GoFundMe page, so we took a long, close look at our situation and determined an amount for a solid footing on our new road together.

Thank you so much for anything you can give.
